Dazzling, Defiant, Spellbinding – She was one of the most extraordinary artists of the twentieth century, an icon of American music. She was the consummate musical storyteller, a griot…. who used her remarkable talent to create a legacy of liberation, empowerment, passion, and love through a magnificent body of works. She earned the moniker ‘High Priestess of Soul’ for she could weave a spell so seductive and hypnotic that the listener lost track of time and space as they became absorbed in the moment. She was who the world would come to know as Nina Simone. www.ninasimone.com

Synia Carroll returns to the Palladium with her unique take on the music and sensibility of Nina Simone. A master storyteller in her own right, Synia brings her earthy, evocative singing style to Ms. Simone’s songbook, much of which came to prominence in the turbulent social dialogue of the 1960s. Synia’s interpretations demonstrates that these musical messages are no less relevant today.

Supporting Synia Carroll in this performance are: Paul Gavin – drums, music director Patrick Hernly - percussion John O’Leary – piano James Suggs – trumpet Brandon Robertson - bass
